SMS Desktop Manager Professional is a client application running within the Microsoft Windows environment and provides an efficient capability to send SMS messages from a users desktop over the Internet.

SMS Text Compression

Built into both the Standard and Professional versions of the SMS Desktop Manager is Websetters' SMS Text Compression algorithms. By using these compression algorithms you can increase the amount of information communicated within a single message.

On the toolbar you see four compression modes.

Normal Mode

The first is Normal Mode and is the mode used for creating/editing the SMS text message. This will display the message as typed. To demonstrate the compression modes we have used the text message - Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party, a familiar piece of practice text to typists.

In Normal Mode this message is 64 characters long

Spaceless Mode

Spaceless Mode will automatically remove all spaces from the text message, and then capitalise the first character of each word to show the word spacing.

In Spaceless Mode this message is 49 characters long

SMS Abbreviations Mode

SMS Abbreviations Mode will automatically replace all words in the text message from TXT equivalents in the TXT Dictionary. SMS Desktop Manager and SMS Desktop Manager Professional contain a TXT Dictionary with the ability to edit or add new TXT words are required.

In SMS Abbreviations Mode this message is 58 characters long

Combined Mode

Combined Mode, as its name suggests, combines the compression algorithms of the Spaceless and SMS Abbreviations modes.

In Combined Mode this message is 43 characters long

Message History

One of the advantages of SMS Desktop Manager is the tracking of messages that have been sent. 

By accessing the SMS History file, the user can see the list of messages that have been sent, show to whom the message was sent and when and whether it has been delivered. It also displays the actual message sent to the recipient to provide full audit tracking of the communication.

The following shows an example of a SMS History File. Each entry (SMS message) is highlighted in Green, Gold or Red. Green shows that a message has been delivered, Gold shows that it is pending and Red shows that a message delivery has failed. 

Each entry also shows when the status was updated.

To sort the report, click the column heading that you wish to use as the sort criteria. To reverse the sort sequence, just press the same column heading again. The report can be sorted by Status, Message ID, Recipient, Mobile Number, Date Sent and Status Date.
